Dating back to the French colonial trading posts in 17th-century India, La Compagnie des Comptoirs is a restaurant empire that markets a sort of nomad chic.  The Avignon Comptoirs is housed within the School of St. Nicolas d’Annecy, a 14th century convent with handsome cloisters that are now outfitted with giant cushioned couches and long trestle tables.  Here you can eat chilled zucchini soups with fresh herbs, tomato salsa, and Parmesan ice cream to name a few.  Closed Sunday and Monday.
